Manchester United – Blackburn Rovers 31 October 2009

Premier League will see Manchester United play against Blackburn Rovers this weekend. After the disappointing loss last weekend against Liverpool 2-0, Manchester United returns home. On the side of coin Blackburn Rovers are eager to win as well since they have lost against Chelsea last week 5-0. Although the odds of winning look very low for the Blackburn Rovers, but I assume they might be able to score at least and not leave Manchester’s net a clean sheet. I am guessing that Manchester need to boost their enthusiasm and motivation so they will run and try to score as many goals as they could. My bet is on the goals this weekend!

The 30 nominees of the Golden Ball 2009

It seems that Barcelona’s 2009 golden age continues as the Catalan club has six of its players nominated for Golden Ball. Unfortunately there are no Italian players in the list. It is kind of weird. Serie A is losing its pace in the Championship leagues and the Italian clubs are performing poorly. Liverpool’s Fernando Torres, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo are the favorites for the trophy.
We have to wait and see who the winner is on December 2009. Until then, we have so many matches to worry about and to bet on!

The nominees are:
Andrey Arshavin (Arsenal)
Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
Iker Casillas (Real Madrid)
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
Diego (Juventus)
Didier Drogba (Chelsea)
Edin Dzeko (Wolfsburg)
Samuel Eto’o (Inter Milan)
Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal)
Fernando Torres (Liverpool)
Diego Forlan (Atletico Madrid)
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
Ryan Giggs (Manchester United)
Yoann Gourcuff (Bordeaux)
Thierry Henry (Barcelona)
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Barcelona)
Andres Iniesta (Barcelona)
Julio Cesar (Inter Milan)
Kaka (Real Madrid)
Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
Maicon (Inter Milan)
Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
Luis Fabiano (Seville)
Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich)
Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
John Terry (Chelsea)
Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United)
David Villa (Valencia)
Xavi Hernandez (Barcelona)
Yaya Toure (Barcelona)

Premier League Betting 29-2009

Weekend Premier League Betting

Get all the latest football betting odds with bwin!

There was Carling Cup action this week for many of the Premier League’s top sides, but most teams made wholesale changes meaning the big stars should be fresh for another weekend of Premier League action, writes Rob Treloar…

Arsenal and Liverpool met in the Carling Cup at the Emirates, with Arsenal’s young Gunners coming out on top. This weekend Arsenal face another massive game as they take on their fierce rivals Tottenham. Spurs also came through a midweek cup fixture, beating Everton 2-0 and will go into the game at the Emirates knowing a win would take them above Arsenal in the table. However, Spurs will be without the suspended Jermain Defoe and the injured Aaron Lennon, which will come as a major blow to Harry Redknapp’s side. Arsenal have been in good form, but London derbies can throw up surprises, as the Gunners found out to their cost at West Ham last weekend. Arsene Wenger will be keen to ensure that his side don’t make similar mistakes this week. The Gunners are favourites to win the match and with bwin, they are priced at 3/5, while Spurs are 19/4 for the win and the draw is 51/20. There is value in the draw as matches between these two sides are often tight affairs. If Arsenal are susceptible anywhere it is in the air, so Peter Crouch may have some joy at the Emirates. The Spurs striker is 23/10 to score at any time.

Bet on all the weekend fixtures with bwin.

Chelsea romped past Bolton in the Carling Cup in midweek and the bad news for the Trotters is they have to face the Blues again this weekend. Joe Cole has made quite an impact on his return from injury, and Fabio Capello will be delighted to see the England man in such great form. In their last two matches Chelsea have scored nine goals and while Cole has had a hand in many of them he is yet to get on the scoresheet himself this season. With bwin, you can get 8/1 on Joe Cole finding the net at the Reebok, Also, considering Chelsea’s rich vein of form, there is value in backing them to get plenty of goals again. bwin are offering 27/20 on Chelsea scoring three or more. Unsurprisingly the Blues are huge favourites for the match, they are priced at 2/5 while Bolton are 27/4 for a home win.

Manchester United will want to bounce back from their defeat at Anfield last weekend, and they face Sam Allardyce’s swine flu hit Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford. A much changed United side beat Barnsley in the Carling Cup on Wednesday, with Michael Owen getting a goal. Owen will be hoping for a Premier League start for the champions and with bwin, he is priced at 7/2 to score at any time.

Of course, United are massive favourites, priced at 3/20, while Blackburn are a staggering 13/1 for an away win, while the draw is 6/1. There’s plenty of value there if you fancy United to slip up!

Treloar’s tip: Why not back a draw in the north London derby and combine it with wins for Chelsea and Manchester United? You’ll get combined odds of 118/25 with bwin.

Real Madrid humiliated!

Tuesday football night was a black day for Real Madrid. As if the defeat of Real Madrid Alcorcón 4-0 against a third side in the soccer betting Copa del Rey was not enough, since Wednesday until today, an article is popping up to humiliate the team. The headlines of the media were shameful, ridiculous and truly humiliating.
The captain Raul Gonzales has apologized, the players have apologized, and the president Perez and also the team coach Pellegrini have apologized. But what use does it make for the Real Madrid fans?

Many of us, are thinking, all these millions of Euro that were spent over the summer, and no world-class coach. I am sure that Pellegrini has done miracles in Villareal FC but you cannot compare the two clubs. As Real Madrid is the world’s most prestigious club, with club history that goes long back with trophies.

The team has failed to win against tough matches like Sevilla in La Liga and AC Milan in Champions League. Saturday, Madrid will play against Getafe in La Liga and next Tuesday at San Siro against AC Milan in Champions League Odds.

Many questions remain in our heads, as if the president Perez wants to sack the Chilean coach Pellegrini, he has to pay 11 million euro. But would that be enough to make the team win any of the leagues this year?

Christiano Ronaldo is still injured, Kaka and Benzama are highly criticized by their poor performances, Drenthe and Marcelo are considered the world’s worst fullbacks and the list goes on. The team may need to gel yes, that I agree with but the team does not need to lose a humiliating 4-0 against a third division because of that.

Sports betting are all about odds, you have to go with your guts!

Serie A Betting 2310

Serie A Weekend Betting

Get all the latest football betting odds with bwin!

After a great week of action in Europe it is back to business in Serie A. There are no shortage of big games, writes Rob Treloar…

Leonardo will be hoping that AC Milan’s brilliant win over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in midweek can kick-start his side’s season. Of course, Alexandre Pato has played a huge part in the reversal of the Rossoneri’s fortunes, having scored three goals in the last two games. The result in Madrid could be of huge significance as the side have gone from looking like mid-table strugglers to title contenders in the space of 90 minutes. This weekend Milan take on The Flying Donkeys of Chievo in Verona and Pato will be hoping to add more goals to his tally. The Brazilian is priced at 157/100 to score against Chievo with Milan at 1/1 for the away win. A Pato-Milan double would give you odds of 207/50.

Get great odds on all the Serie A fixtures with bwin.

Juventus will also go into their weekend fixture with confidence having claimed their first Champions League win of the season in midweek. However, the Bianconeri, who are four points adrift of table toppers Inter, have not won in Serie A for over a month. However, they will fancy their chances of getting a result at lowly Siena, who have not won a home game all season.

Juve’s winning goal against Maccabi Haifa in midweek cam from an unlikely source, with defender Giorgio Chiellini getting the all important header. But Juve have been boosted by the return of playmaker Diego, who following an injury lay-off will be hoping to get back amongst the goals in Siena. Diego is 143/100 to score at any time with bwin, while Juventus are priced at 29/50 for an away win.

Elsewhere Genoa will hope to bounce back from their humiliating defeat to Inter last weekend, when they travel to Cagliari. Despite last week’s 5-0 thrashing, Genoa have made a good start to the season. They are priced at 8/5 for an away win at Cagliari.

Lazio fans will be hoping their side can finally end their winless run at Bari. The Biancoceleste have failed to record a victory since beating Chievo back in August. Bari, on the other hand have only been beaten once all season and are sitting comfortably in mid table so it is no surprise that they are the favourites, priced at 31/20, while Lazio are a 9/5 shot for an away win.

Fiorentina took part in an incredible Champions League match in midweek, eventually winning 4-3 against Debreceni. Adrian Mutu was the star of the show for the Viola, scoring twice in the first 20 minutes. Fiorentina face a Napoli side who have lost all four of their games on the road this season, so it is no surprise that the home side are strong favourites at 18/25. Mutu is 143/100 to score at any time.

Weekend Premier League Betting

Get all the latest football betting odds with bwin!

After a thrilling week of Champions League action, there are some big matches in the Premier League. We are already a quarter of the way through the season and there are some great battles shaping up at both ends of the table, writes Rob Treloar…

Portsmouth have had a woeful time on and off the pitch and Paul Hart will be hoping that Ali Al Faraj, the club’s second new owner this season, can finally bring some stability to the troubled south coast club. Pompey sit rock bottom in the Premier League table, with only one win this season, away at Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, Hull City are just two places above Portsmouth and have endured a pretty dismal start to the season themselves. Portsmouth will be hoping they can put in a performance similar to the one they gave at Molineux and get another vital win on the board. They’ll need to be more clinical in front of goal though and Frederic Piquionne needs to start converting some of his chances. The French striker is 2/1 with bwin to score at any time during the match. Portsmouth are good value for an away win at 39/20, while Hull City are favourites to win at 13/10. It certainly won’t be pretty but it is a massive game for both teams.

Get great odds on all this weekend’s Premier League action with bwin!

Chelsea will be hoping to get back to winning ways in the league following their defeat at Villa Park last weekend. The Blues will have been buoyed by their 4-0 Champions League win in midweek and but they face an in form Blackburn Rovers side who will be full of confidence themselves following their derby victory over Burnley last weekend. David Dunn has been in sparkling form for Sam Allardyce’s side and if anyone is going to breach the Chelsea defence it is most likely to be Dunn. He is 53/10 to score at any time with bwin. However, Chelsea are likely to win at a canter and having ended his barren spell with a goal against Atletico Madrid in midweek, Frank Lampard will be aiming to get on the scoresheet again. Lampard is 13/10 to score against Rovers. Unsurprisingly, Chelsea are priced at 1/5 to win the match but at 23/20 there is some value on the Blues scoring three goals or more.

Of course, on Sunday the biggest game of the weekend takes place at Anfield, as Liverpool host Manchester United. Matches between these two old rivals are always special, but this one takes on even more importance given Liverpool’s recent run of results. The Reds have lost their last four games in a row and are in desperate need of a win. Rafa Benitez could well find himself out of a job if Liverpool don’t turn things around quickly although a win against Manchester United would certainly ease the pressure. But United will be hoping they can add to Liverpool’s misery and will be hoping to avenge the 4-1 defeat they suffered at Old Trafford back in March. Michael Owen returns to Anfield as a Manchester United player and is bound to get a mixed reception from the home fans.

The former Liverpool striker has claimed he will celebrate if he scores against his former club, so it seems like the script has already been written! With bwin, Owen is 17/10 to score at any time. United are slight favourites at 3/2, while Liverpool are 17/10 for a home win. There is value in the draw at 11/5.

Treloar’s tip: This weekend I’ve gone for an away win treble, with wins for Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Manchester United. You’ll get combined odds of 55/4 with bwin.
