Sport betting word of the transfer world is is Liverpool who are looking for a new striker this January. It seems that defeat at Portsmouth has finally convinced the Anfield authorities that they can’t hope to achieve anything as long as Fernando Torres is the only striker at the club. And the uncertain Rafael Benítez agrees. As there are rumors continue that, the American owners are considering replacing Benítez with Martin O’Neill; Torres warns to leave the club in case Liverpool sacks Benítez.
Players who are available for no cost are Bayern Munich’s Luca Toni, and Liverpool will hope to persuade the Italian to join them rather than Benfica or Dynamo Moscow.
As we have seen earlier this week the new manager of Manchester City, Roberto Mancini, it seems that City is expected to spend millions over January.
Manchester United will not buy any one this January because they don’t want to.
Everton have joined Arsenal in following the Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.
The list of Manchester city’s names is long, some of the names in the football betting world are
Thierry Henry (£10m), Fernando Torres (£80m), Sergio Agüero (£40m), Angel Di Maria (£35m), Franck Ribéry (£65m), Javier Mascherano, Yaya Touré and Matthew Upson

Lionel Messi was expected to be the player of the year. It was an amazing year for Barcelona; they were able to win all the competitions that they participated. Messi helped Barcelona to win six awards and by being named FIFA player of the year was just the cherry on top of a Sunday fudge ice cream.
The Argentinean striker, who made the goal against Manchester United in the Champions League in 2009, also scored on Saturday to secure the Club World Cup in Barcelona on Saturday night against Estudiantes.
The 22-year-old won the award for the first time, beating last year’s winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
He says that he is very happy and what is happening is unbelievable!
The awards were voted by coaches and captains of every national team.

Weekend International Rugby Union action
There is more international Rugby Union action this weekend as England face the mighty All Blacks at Twickenham, while north of the border, Scotland face Australia at Murrayfield, writes Rob Treloar…
Martin Johnson’s side have been heavily criticised for their displays this autumn and now they face the unenviable task of trying to get their campaign back on track against the All Blacks.
Whilst the Kiwis have not been in sparkling form themselves this year, they are unbeaten in their last seven matches against England, and go into the game on the back of a 20-6 victory over Italy.
Johnson will ring in the changes as he aims to give his side more of a physical presence. Ayoola Erinle, Simon Shaw and Joe Worsley have all been drafted in to the side to face New Zealand.
And although the All Blacks side may consist of one or two names unfamiliar to the Twickenham crowd, there is no disputing that the team who have recently replaced South Africa at the top of the World Rankings, will provide a very difficult challenge to an England side already under immense pressure.
Pressure is of course what Johnson thrives on though, and he will be acutely aware that a victory against the All Blacks will do wonders for England’s confidence and force their critics to eat a slice or two of humble pie. But whether England can pull off a victory is another question. With bwin, the home side are 11/2 to win. If England are to overcome New Zealand then it is likely to be by a narrow margin and you can get 8/1 on England winning by five points or less.
The All Blacks are understandably favourites to win the match, and strong favourites at that, priced at 1/10 for the win. You can get 11/2 on the Kiwis winning by 6-10 points and 5/1 on them winning by 11-15. There are many more bets available on bwin’s sportsbook and there will be live betting available throughout the match.

Elsewhere this weekend Scotland take on Australia. Although Scotland made a good start to life under Andy Robinson, with a 23-10 victory over Fiji, Australia will pose an altogether different test. The Wallabies will make just one change to the side which drew 20-20 with Ireland last weekend, with veteran George Smith coming in at flanker to join the likes of Matt Giteau, Rocky Elsom and Quade Cooper in a star studded side. Australia will go in to the match as huge favourites, priced at 1/5, while Scotland, who haven’t beaten the Wallabies in the last 16 attempts will be 333/100 for a win at Murrayfield, with the tie priced at 28/1.

Now that the World Cup places have finally decided, we can now concentrate fully on domestic issues without interruption! The Premier League returns this weekend and the big four are all in action, writes Rob Treloar…
Of course, Liverpool have been having a torrid time of late, winning only one of their last nine matches. Surely even the mercurial Rafa ‘Its never my fault’ Benitez cannot withstand many more defeats? Manchester City are the visitors at Anfield this weekend and victory for Sparky’s Sky Blues could well see Rafa out of a job. The fact of the matter is that Man City are the team most likely to take Liverpool’s place in the top four. Player for player Manchester City have a far superior squad to Liverpool and although the Reds have two of the world’s finest performers in Gerrard and Torres, it may not be enough to beat the Blues. Much has been made of the money Mark Hughes has spent, but little is mentioned about the money Benitez has wasted. Rafa has spent over £228 million in his time at Anfield, signing 76 players, of which almost half have since left the club.
This weekend’s fixture is of huge importance to Liverpool, a win might just get their season back on track but a draw or a defeat will see the vultures circling above Rafa. In truth, Manchester City have hit a lull after their terrific start to the season but Sparky will see this fixture as an ideal opportunity to reignite their assault on the top four. Despite their abysmal record, Liverpool are still favourites to win the match with bwin, priced at 17/20, while City are 3/1 to record an away win, with the draw at 12/5.
If City are to get a result at Anfield the goals are likely to come from the front pairing of Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor. Tevez is 13/5 to score at any time during the match, while Adebayor is priced at 17/10.

Elsewhere in the Premiership entertain Mick McCarthy’s Wolves at Stamford Bridge. The Blues will be aiming to extend their lead at the top of the table and given Chelsea’s current form, Wolves could well have their work cut out. Such is Chelsea’s home form, that Wolves are priced at a whopping 14/1 to win at Stamford Bridge, while Chelsea are 3/20 for a home win. There is even value in the draw if you think Wolves can earn a point, with bwin the draw is priced at 23/4. Chelsea’s front two have been in scintillating form. Drogba and Anelka will no doubt make life very difficult for the Wolves defence and Drogba is priced at 3/5 to score at any time, while Anelka is 9/10.
Arsenal travel to Sunderland where they are 11/20 favourites to beat Steve Bruce’s Black Cats who are 26/5 for the home win. The draw is priced at 13/5. And Manchester United face Everton, in what is traditionally a tricky fixture for the Red Devils. Fergie’s side are still strong favourites at 7/20 though, with 7/2 being offered on the draw and 15/2 on an Everton win.

After an eventful week in the Champions League there are some massive matches in the Premier League this weekend, with Liverpool and Arsenal going head-to-head on Sunday, writes Rob Treloar…
Stoke manager Tony Pulis has been in the headlines this week after his dressing room bust up with James Beattie at the Emirates last weekend. Although both player and manager have said the matter has been forgotten, it will be interesting to see if Beattie is still a Potters player at the end of the January transfer window. This weekend Stoke are at home to Wigan, and the Latics will be hoping they can capitalise on any disharmony at the Britannia. Stoke’s excellent home record means they go into the game as 11/10 favourited with bwin, while Wigan are 47/20 and the draw is priced at 9/4. James Beattie is 8/5 to respond to last week’s incident by getting a goal at the Britannia.

Chelsea haven’t won in three games, and their defeat at Manchester City last Saturday has cut their lead at the top of the Premiership to just two points. Frank Lampard missed a penalty for the Blues at Eastlands, which would have seen them salvage a point. The England midfielder will be aiming to make amends this weekend and is 11/10 to score a goal when Chelsea entertain Everton. Unsurprisingly the Blues are strong favourites to win the match at 1/4, with Everton a massive 11/1 to get an away win at Stamford Bridge. Even the draw is whopping 4/1 with bwin.
Manchester United play host to Aston Villa in the late kick-off on Saturday. Michael Owen bagged a hat-trick for the Red Devils in midweek and he’ll be hoping his performance will have earned him a Premiership start against Villa. Owen is 13/10 to get on the scoresheet against Villa. United have been hit by an injury crisis in defence, with Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher having to fill in at the black for Sir Alex Ferguson. Will John Carew be able to take advantage of United’s makeshift backline? The big Norwegian is 13/5 to get a goal at Old Trafford. United are 21/50 to win the match, with Villa priced at 6/1 and 13/4 the draw.
On Sunday Liverpool and Arsenal go head-to-head at Anfield. Last season the corresponding fixture provided an eight goal thriller as the two sides played out an enthralling 4-4 draw. Liverpool are still yet to find the form they showed last season and suffered yet another defeat in midweek to Fiorentina. Arsenal have struggled away from home this season though so it will be interesting to see which of the two teams comes out on top on Sunday. Liverpool are favourites at 23/20, while the Gunners are priced at 23/10, but at 11/5 the draw may well be a good bet.
