Roma’s Mirko Vucinic is close to put a pen on a long-term deal with Juventus after completing the medical in Torino on Monday. The Montenegrin player has arrived in Torino on Sunday and spent the whole morning undergoing the medical check-up. Vucinic spent five years playing for Roma scoring 11 goals on 36 appearances last season.

Palermo’s Javier Pastore is another Serie A player who looks to be on the move. PSG’s general manager Leonardo said that the French club is very close on securing the signature of talented 22-year-old Argentinean.

“Pastore is not officially our player yet”, Leonardo told Gazzetta dello Sport. “And until the end of the negotiations you can never consider discounting anything. The good relationship with Palermo allows us to think positively. I count on being able to present Pastore in the first days of the week.”

Chelsea might have missed out to sign Pastore, but they still have a chance to bring in unsettling Luka Modric from Tottenham Hotspurs. According to Tottenham’s assistant manager Kevin Bond, the club would sell the Croatian for the right price. Chelsea’s bid for 25-year-old Modric has already been rejected twice, but it seems that Spurs would have been tempted by an increased bid. Chelsea also want to keep young striker Daniel Sturridge at the club. 21-year-old striker who spent last season on a loan at Bolton has pledged to remain at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place in the Blues attack under new boss Andre Villas-Boas: “The manager has given me license to express myself. I have never had that before with any manager,” Sturridge told The Independent. “He has given me a lot more freedom than I have ever had and I will enjoy my football a lot more.”

Argentine striker has signed a five-year deal with Premier League side Manchester City. According to reports, City paid a 38 million pound fee to Aguero’s Atletico City.

New Manchester City’s striker has 175 caps for Atletico Madrid and 74 goals scored in their jersey. For his national team, he played 30 matches scoring 13 times.

With signing Aguero, City’s boss Roberto Mancini has now six attackers at his disposal. According to his words, it is a good thing to have so many good attackers in the squad, especially if in the season ahead your team participates in four competitions. This situation is setting higher standards among players to fight for their place in the team and improves odds for getting trophies. However, some of these guys will have to leave the club in order to play constantly. If rumors are true, Craig Bellamy who recently has returned from loan in Cardiff City is close on concluding the similar deal with Celtic. On the other side, Adebayor wishes to official transfer to Real Madrid, but that depends on Real Madrid’s interest in that kind of deal. Problematic homesick part of Manchester City’s attacking line are Argentinean striker, team’s captain and top goal scorer Carlos Tevez who has been linked with Corinthians and Inter and Italian Mario Balotelli who has been linked with a transfer to Serie A champions Milan. What will happen until the 31st August when summer transfer window closes, remains to be seen.

Manchester City’s manager Roberto Mancini admitted he has troubles with settling down hotshot Mario Balotelli.

Mancini insisted on signing Balotelli from Inter during the summer transfer window. Manchester City paid 24 million pounds for that transfer, but for now, he did not fulfill the expectations. Balotelli’s six goals on ten caps in Premier League were hardly enough to tolerate his lack of discipline, injuries and misbehavior in public.

On the FA Cup match against Aston Villa on Wednesday, Roberto Mancini was forced to substitute the attacker even if he had scored, because he was in danger of getting the second yellow card.

“I am talking and I don’t have a feeling that Mario is listening what I’m saying. Of course, that would not be a problem if he would be playing well and scoring goals all the time. I know he has the quality and talent do be so much better player than he is now. He is the player that can change the match outcome in a second, only if he wants it. He can be the best player and scorer in the squad and I hope he can realize that as soon as possible for his own and our good.”

Manchester City welcomes Wigan Athletic on Saturday. City’s rivals Manchester United are 10 points away on the top, but Mancini’s team main goal is to stay on third position and provide Champions League spot for the next season.

Ronaldo retires!

Posted by: | Comments (0)

One of the best Brazilian players ever, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, has confirmed that he is retiring from football.

His decision to retire ends one of the most prestigious football careers in the world. Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane were the only two men to have won the FIFA Player of the Year award three times. He was a part of the Brazil’s World Cup wins in both 1994 and 2002.

When he was just 21-years-old, he won his first Ballon d’Or as the European Footballer of the Year in 1997, and again in 2002. In his remarkable career, he scored over 350 club goals and he played 97 times for the Brazil national team.

“I can’t take any more,” Ronaldo said to the press.
“I wanted to continue, but I can’t do it anymore. I think of an action, but I can’t do it the way I want to. It’s time. It’s the body that’s hurting me. The head wants to go on, but the body can’t take any more.”

Ronaldo was named as one of the best starting eleven of all-time by France Football in 2007. Brazilian legend Pele named him into the list of one hundred greatest footballers ever, FIFA 100.

Torres ready for Chelsea debut!

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Latest acquisition in Chelsea Fernando Torres has trained with Blues on Thursday, heightening speculation he could debut on Sunday against Liverpool.

50 million pound weight Torres went through the motions at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground alongside another newcomer David Luiz who transferred to London from Portuguese club Benfica.

It has fuelled belief that Spanish striker will face his old side within less than a week after transferring from Anfield to Stamford Bridge. While Torres could hope for immediate start in Carlo Ancelotti’s team attack alongside attacking duo consisting of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka, Luiz is more realistic about his efforts to gain place in the back four of Premier League last season champions. “I always knew there would be competition because Chelsea is a big club and you have to be a top player to play here,” Luiz said. “It is a big challenge for me, but I have a strong desire to get a space in this group and establish myself and learn from my new team-mates to become a better player and have more skills.”

Liverpool also boosted up their attacking force with signing Luis Suarez from Ajax and Andy Carroll from Newcastle United.

Match between Chelsea and Liverpool is scheduled for Sunday 6th February at 16:00 at Stamford Bridge home of Chelsea footballers.

After spending whole 20-year long career in Manchester United, Gary Neville decided to retire from football in the eye of his 36 birthday.

Right back played for Manchester United since 1991 and played 602 matches in the most successful period for the club from Old Trafford. When Roy Keane left the club, he was appointed as a new captain. He was the second longest serving player in the current Manchester United squad, right behind Ryan Giggs who remains the oldest player in the squad. With Red Devils, Neville won eight titles in Premier League, three FA Cups, two League Cups, one Intercontinental Cup and one FIFA World Club Cup.

Manchester United’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson described him as the best right beck of his generation and announced that he will offer him to stay in the club as a coach.

He has 85 caps for England. Last four years of his career was filled with injuries. Neville’s final professional appearance was against West Bromwich Albion on New Year’s Day 2011, a 2–1 victory at The Hawthorns. Interesting fact is that his brother Phil, who played along his side in Manchester, is still playing for Everton as the captain.

From Manchester United’s “Golden generation”, there are only Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes left as active in the team.
