West Brom put in a five-star performance at The Riverside last weekend, beating Gareth Southgate’s Middlesbrough 5-0, to go a point clear of Newcastle at the top of the table. However, Roberto Di Matteo’s side then suffered their first defeat of the season at Arsenal in the Carling Cup. Arsene Wenger’s young charges were too good for the Baggies, who were hampered by Jerome Thomas’s sending off. Di Matteo will be hoping his side can get straight back to winning ways when they take on Crystal Palace at the Hawthorns. West Brom are priced at 1/2 for a home win with bwin.

Queens Park Rangers will be hoping they can build on their excellent away win at Cardiff last weekend. The Super Hoops put all the controversy surrounding owner Flavio Briatore to one side to beat the Bluebirds. Jim Magilton’s side were knocked out of the Carling Cup in midweek by Chelsea, but Rangers gave a good account of themselves and can take a lot of positives from the game. This weekend they host Barnsley at Loftus Road. The Tykes have had a disappointing start to the season taking just 5 points from their opening eight matches, but they will be buoyed by a fantastic result in midweek, when they beat Premier League Burnley in the Carling Cup. QPR will certainly be favourites to get a home win, at bwin they are priced at 7/10.

Roy Keane’s Ipswich Town are still languishing at the bottom of the table and could be in for a long hard season if they don’t turn things around soon. This weekend the Tractor Boys entertain Newcastle, who are chasing automatic promotion. Despite a good start the season the Magpies have had a bit of a wobble of late, losing to Blackpool last week and crashing out of the Carling Cup to Peterborough in midweek. In fairness, Chris Hughton did draft in a number of youngsters for the Cup game, and so he’ll be hoping the side can bounce back with a win at Portman Road. Newcastle are 23/20 to win away with bwin.
