Championship Football betting tips weekend
ByChampionship weekend round-up for your best football betting tips:
With three games gone, the Championship already looks like being a tight division once again. No side has managed to maintain a 100% record after three games and it just goes to show how close the league really is.
Having been cheated away at Bristol City last weekend, Crystal Palace bounced straight back with an impressive 3-1 win at Roy Keane’s Ipswich Town. This weekend they face Newcastle at Selhurst Park. Newcastle have started the season well but will face a tough test against a buoyant Palace side. At 49/20 The Eagles are great value for a home win.
Roy Keane is still waiting for his first win as Ipswich boss, but he may well have to wait a while longer as his side face a difficult trip to the Hawthorns on Saturday, where they will face an in form West Brom. Roberto Di Matteo has wasted little time settling in and after an impressive first half display at Peterborough in midweek West Brom will be eager to get off to an equally good start against the Tractor Boys. At 7/4 there is great value in a West Brom half-time/full-time bet.
The impatient Flavio Briatore won’t have been impressed by QPR’s failure to win any of their opening fixtures, but Jim Magilton’s side have a good opportunity to put things right on Saturday when they face Nottingham Forest at Loftus Road. Forest narrowly avoided relegation last season and look set to struggle again this term having taken just one point from nine. QPR are priced at 23/20 for a home win.
Middlesbrough have started the season strongly, with back-to-back away wins in their last two games against Swansea and Scunthorpe. Next they face Doncaster Rovers at the Riverside and will be looking for their first home win. Gareth Southgate’s in form side are priced accordingly at 1/2.
Free scoring Cardiff City top the Championship table on goal difference after the opening three games but this weekend they face a Bristol City side who are also unbeaten. Gary Johnson will be hoping his side can put the controversy surrounding last week’s win over Crystal Palace behind them. With both sides protecting unbeaten records, a draw is a good bet at 47/20.
Treloar’s tip: I’ve gone for a London double this week, with home wins for Crystal Palace and QPR. You’ll get combined odds of 11/2 with bwin.com.
