Live Premier League News – Paul Scholes retires from football!

Manchester United’s veteran midfielder Paul Scholes has announced that he is retiring from active playing, but he will take up a coaching role at the club.

Paul Scholes had a part side role this season and he has already made the retiring decision. It was expected he will retire following United’s Champions League defeat in the Champions League final to Barcelona. His new role in Sir Alex Ferguson’s setup will surely give Manchester United better Premier League odds for defending the title as they will be able to draw upon Scholes experience. Experienced player said: “I am not a man of many words but I can honestly say that playing football is all I have ever wanted to do and to have had such a long and successful career at Manchester United has been a real honor. This was not a decision that I have taken lightly but I feel now is the right time for me to stop playing. To have been part of the team that helped the Club reach that 19th title is a great privilege.”

Scholes made his debut for United in the League Cup at Port Vale in the 1994/95 season, and since that match he played 676 appearances for the famous club just to sit fourth on the all-time list behind Bill Foulkes, Bobby Charlton and Ryan Giggs.
