Torres against Liverpool – Premier League news!
Posted by: | CommentsWhat an outcome to the Torres transfer from Liverpool to Chelsea. Immediately after the transfer, Spaniard should debut on Sunday against his former club.
Imagine you must form the defense against Chelsea’s attacking trio Drogba-Anelka-Torres. That will have to imagine Liverpool’s manager Kenny Dalglish, because Italian on Chelsea’s bench announced that Fernando Torres could debut on Sunday’s Premier League match on Stamford Bridge against striker’s former club Liverpool.
”I will probably start that match with two strikers, perhaps even in a “diamond“ formation.” said Carlo Ancelotti, hinting that Chelsea’s attacking line could look like this: Drogba and Torres as frontal attackers and Anelka right behind them. Ancelotti also believes that Torres will not have any problems to play alongside Drogba or any other attacker.
Torres first training in Chelsea.
Given the above, Torres could make a debut in Blues jersey. However, there some speculations that say Liverpool tried to make some “gentleman” arrangement with Chelsea so Spaniard shouldn’t play on Sunday, but Ancelotti stated: ”No, there is no that kind of deal with Liverpool.” English media remind that arrangement like that would be against Premier League rules.
For Torres is not the same if he will play against his former club or not, but you can bet nobody will ask him given the money he was paid to bring in to Chelsea. He said: “This is destiny. Not the perfect situation, but we will see what will happen. I can say only the best of Liverpool. That was the club where I became top player and where I was given a chance to play on top level on top matches. Now things are changed and I am a Chelsea player.” Liverpool players have already showed what they think on Torres transfer to Chelsea. They burned his Liverpool jersey, similar like it happened in NBA basketball league when Lebron James transferred to rival team.
For Torres if debuts on Sunday will be unusual occasion for sure. Just until yesterday he played against Chelsea and scored goals against them and now he must be a menace for the Liverpool’s defensive line. If it comes to that, Chelsea could have some advantage since Torres knows really well his former colleagues from Liverpool’s defense. Here is one of his first goals for Liverpool and it was against Chelsea.
Torres talked about his ambitions: ”Champions League is my greatest ambition. Every football player has a desire to play in that competition. I have an unpleasant memory from my first season in Liverpool, when Chelsea have beaten us in Champions League semi-finals. Now I have high hopes of going with Chelsea to the top of the Europe. Chelsea has an opportunity to win trophies every season and when a chance to play for a team like that shows up, you just can’t say no. I will play alongside some of the greatest names in the world of football like: Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Anelka… I can be part of this great team.” Then he added: “Chelsea was always showing me respect. They really wanted me here and that is very important to know that you have support by the whole club and fans. I’m truly happy to be a Chelsea’s player.”
Meanwhile, at the Stamford Bridge Chelsea is keeping fans happy by selling Fernando Torres shirts almost immediately after his record breaking move to Stamford Bridge.
