Barcelona took the victory in Spanish Supercup 5-4 in aggregate, after exciting 3-2 second leg win at Camp Nou.
These two matches were perfect introduction into the new season in La Liga which is expected to be the fullfilled with exciting rivalry between the two best team in Spain.
After thrilling first-leg and 2-2 equalizer at Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, drama continued at Camp Nou. Goals from Andres Iniesta nad Lionel Messi gave Barcelona 2-1 advantage over Real Madrid. Only goal in a first part of the match scored Cristiano Ronaldo. Karim Benzema delivered an equalizer and Messi once again placed a decider in Real Madrid’s net and secured his team’s third consecutive Spanish Supercup trophy. Marcelo earned red card which invoked ugly scenes on the field involving players and coaches of both club.
In the opening minutes, Ronaldo put Valdes to a test, but the goalkeeper responded well to a challenge. Barcelona fought back with Messi’s perfect pass that brought Iniesta through on goal. Spanish international showed class with nonchalantly scooping the ball over Casillas for Barca’s lead. Only six minutes later Ronaldo put deflected ball in Valdes’ goal from a short range. Both teams exchanged chances, but Messi, just as he did on Sunday, gave his team a half-time lead by flicking the ball into the Casillas’ far corner after chase with Ronaldo.
In the second half Mourinho’s team was able to draw level on 80 minutes after Benzema delivered an equalizer by staying poised amid the scramble around the Valdes’ goal just enough to put the ball behind the powerless goalkeeper.
Extra time was close when substitute Fabregas was introduced as the latest acquisition from Arsenal, just to be involved in building up the attack that Messi turned into the goal with a sublime volley after Adriano’s cross and seal the Barcelona’s third consecutive Spanish Supercup victory.
The match went into chaos when Madrid’s Marcelona wrapped his legs around Fabregas, prompting all people from both benches into the rumble as the officials struggled to regain control. Marcelo, Ozil and David Vill all received red cards for their involvement in melee.

New season in Spain starts with Spanish Super Cup two leg duel between eternal rivals, last year Coppa del Rey winners Real Madrid and La Liga and Champions League winners Barcelona. Two teams played five interesting matches last season and it appears we are about to see another interesting clash between two giants of Spanish football.
Sep Guardiola believes that Real Madrid will have the edge in this duel because of the advanced state of preparations. According to Barca’s coach he had entire squad together only for two days (many players were on international duty on Coppa America), while Real Madrid had flawless preseason. Based on the results from the last season, Guardiola believes that result will be decided in the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu: “The tie will be practically decided on Sunday. Whenever we’ve come back with a good result from the Bernabeu it’s because we’ve been ambitious. It’s very difficult to figure out how they’re going to play,” he added, referring to Jose Mourinho’s Real side. “They sat back in the first half of the first leg of the semi-finals, and in the second half they pressured us high up the pitch. They have a lot in their locker. We have to be cautious. Beating them is really tough.”
This match will not be too important for these rivals in such early in a season, but rivalry is promising interesting football betting odds.

In La Liga teams will round up on Saturday to play the last round of this season. As we know Barcelona are the new champions and it is very probable their lineup in match against Malaga will consist of players that didn’t play much this season. Guardiola and his team are aiming at Wembley and Champions League final where they are meeting Manchester United on May 28th. Usually, Malaga wouldn’t be much of a rival for Barcelona, but if Guardiola picks up players that didn’t play too much this season, you can expect an interesting game. Bet on Barcelona, but expect that a draw is possible here.
The only two things that remain undecided are which teams will play in UEFA Europa League next season and which is the last team that will be relegated. Sevilla, Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid are in game for European spots, while Real Zaragoza must win at Levante and hope that one of their rivals for survival in La Liga could lose. From this point it looks like the most interesting match will be the one between Mallorca and Atletico Madrid. Both teams need victory for achieving their goals. Mallorca will surely stay in La Liga in case they win and Atletico will lose European spot. Bet on a draw here. As for relegation, many options are in game. Deportivo La Coruna, Getafe, Osasuna, Real Sociedad and Mallorca will be looking to avoid losing their games and will surely hope that Real Zaragoza are not capable of defeating Levante. La Liga odds are Real Zaragoza favor and according to those odds, Getafe should be the last traveler to Segunda. Bet on Real Zaragoza.

Barcelona became owner of the La Liga title for the third consecutive time. They are looking forward now with only one goal. To win the Champions League at Wembley Stadium on 28th May against Manchester United. Therefore, Guardiola was resting his best players and as a result of that, Barca only played a goalless draw against the struggling team of Deportivo La Coruna.
On the other side Real Madrid gave their best to defeat Villarreal. They did it with a likes of Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo which stands for the best La Liga scorer this season. With two goals from this match he has 38 in total.
Sevilla and Atletico Madrid have equaled number of points alongside Athletic Bilbao and these three will lead a battle for the UEFA Europa League spots to the last minute. While Bilbao equalized at home against Malaga, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid made home victories respectively over Real Sociedad and Hercules which failed to avoid relegation and alongside Almeria will surely play in lower rank competition next season. Before the last round Real Zaragoza will be the team with the worst La Liga odds to avoid relegation. They were able to beat Espanyol, but now they will have to be victorious against Levante and beat the odds for exiting La Liga. Deportivo La Coruna, Getafe, Osasuna, Real Sociedad and Mallorca all are still in danger to be relegated and they must fail to win so Real Zaragoza could count on staying in La Liga. The final round will show the turn of events and give us the conclusion of very interesting season in La Liga.

Barcelona wrapped up their third consecutive title in La Liga. They become the first club with such success since the fantastic Barca side of the early 1990’s, which won three successive titles between 1991 and 1994. In this round they are hosting struggling team of Deportivo La Coruna. It is more than obvious which team is favorite here, but the question is whether Guardiola will take the chance and put some of his best players on short vacation to save their strength for Champions League final that is scheduled for the end of May, or he will see to have continuity in their form by letting them play along. Barca’s second team at worse should be better than Deportivo’s first, so bet on Barcelona.
It will be interesting to see how Real Madrid will play on their travel to Villarreal. Yellow Submarine did some fine work this season and they deserved the Champions League spot. What are La Liga odds for them on placing third depends on their display in this match. At home they played pretty good football this season and odds for surprise against Real Madrid are not too bad. However, Real Madrid will certainly want to show their class, so expect serious football here with a lot of goals. Bet on Real Madrid.
The most interesting are the duels are between teams that are fighting for UEFA Europa League places and those which are trying to avoid relegation. Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla will decide on which two of them will play in the second best football European competition and Espanyol will be looking their own chance from the corner. At the bottom many teams must provide points in order to avoid relegation in last two rounds. Almeria is certain traveler to Segunda and Hercules and Real Zaragoza are currently in worst position. However, Getafe, Deportivo or Sporting Gijon could easily sink if they do not display well on Sunday.

Posted by: Tony McRay | Comments (0)Barcelona reached their third straight La Liga crown after drawing 1-1 against Levante on Wednesday.
Pep Guardiola’s men needed only one point to seal the new title in La Liga. Thanks to Seidou Keita’s well-placed header, Barcelona took the lead in 27th minute. Felipe Caicedo brought the equalizer at 41st minute. Messi had a few good chances in the second half, but Levante was able to secure the equalizer. This way Barca reached their 21st La Liga title. Barcelona will have a chance to claim a trophy double in Champions League final against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium in London later this month.
Real Zaragoza’s hopes of avoiding the relegation zone were seriously blown by the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Real Sociedad. Aranburu scored late goal to secure Sociedad’s win and clearing off five points from relegation zone.
Sevilla failed to capitalize 2-0 lead at the half time against Osasuna and use Atletico Madrid’s 2-1 Tuesday loss to Racing Santander. Osasuna was able to score three times in the second half and defeat Sevilla which remains uncertain on their efforts to reach UEFA Europa League at the end of the season. Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are equal at the La Liga table with 52 points each, but Atletico has better goal difference.

Posted by: Tony McRay | Comments (0)In Spanish La Liga the most exciting matches until the end of season will be played among struggling teams. If we look at the table, we will see that none of the last ten teams can say they will be for sure playing in La Liga next season. On the top, Barcelona will ensure the title if they win in next two matches. First, they play city derby against Espanyol. Messi and his team-mates will do their best to achieve victory and stay at the first place. Bet on Barcelona.
Real Madrid travel to Sevilla. Mourinho’s team is wounded after exiting Champions League in semi-final to their rivals Barcelona. Now they must win in order to continue their hopes of winning La Liga. Sevilla is taking the last UEFA Europa League place currently and they want to stay there. However, they didn’t have the best displays at home this season, so it is uncertain what to expect. Mourinho is way too much experienced to let his team fall down. I would prefer to bet on Real Madrid.
Many teams from the second part of the La Liga table are playing this weekend against each other. Real Zaragoza plays at home against Osasuna. Zaragoza’s latest displays and victory against Real in Madrid are giving them fair odds for staying in La Liga. Bet on Real Zaragoza in this one. Getafe could provide better position in La Liga for the rest of the season if they win bottomed and relegated Almeria. Deportivo travel to Gijon to play against Sporting. They must win if they want to escape next to relegation position they are currently placed.
Villarreal and Valencia are favorites against their opponents. These two are leading the battle for direct Champions League place.

In the last El Clasico of the season thanks to 1-1 draw and 3-1 aggregate, Barcelona booked their place in Champions League final at Wembley Stadium.
As it was foreseen, Barcelona completed their task and successfully eliminated their greatest rivals Real Madrid from the Champions League. All Champions League odds were in Barcelona’s favor which could be the same in the finals against Manchester United or Schalke 04 which will be known after their duel at Old Trafford tonight.
Barcelona started the match playing their own style, fast, simple, aggressive on the ball and with the way much more possession than Real Madrid. They had plenty of chances in the first half, but failed to score. Iniesta, Messi, Busquets, Dani Alves, David Villa, they all had chances to score, but mostly thanks to Casillas, Real struggled and survived in a goalless game at the half time. In the first half Real Madrid side simply couldn’t take a shot on a goal of Victor Valdes, while Barca’s whole team played with a lot of wonderful passes and 2/3 of ball possesion in their favour.
In the second half excitement and suspense was growing. Real started to play much better and finally showed that they can be a match up to their rivals. Higuain took the sudden chance and used it, but Real Madrid’s celebration was cut short because the refree’s whistle. Javier Mascerano was touched by Ronaldo and the Argentinian fell down and a free kick was given. Soon after that, Barcelona took the lead. Iniesta composed a fantastic pass for Pedro who scored after a long time. Ozil and Adebayor were brought into the game to try to achieve impossible, to give Barcelona three goals in the remaining 35-40 minutes. Madrid scored after Di Maria took the ball past Mascerano and took the shot which went off the post before Marcelo who gave his time a lifeline. Until the end of the match Real couldn’t find the second goal that would give an exciting finish to the final El Clasico of the season. There was a late appearance for Eric Abidal, who was greeted with rapturous applause from everyone in the stadium after returning from an operation to remove a cancerous tumor.

The last few games between Tuesday night rivals were filled with controversy on both sides. Latest statement of this kind came from Real Madrid’s Aitor Karanka who accused Barca’s midfielder Sergio Busquets being racist. He spoke in place of the head coach Jose Mourinho who refused to talk to the press ahead of the second-leg match at Camp Nou.
Karanka and Mourinho believe Barcelona should dismiss Busquets from the last El Clasico of the season after he was accused of calling Marcelo a ‘monkey’ behind his hand in Catalan’s club 2-0 first-leg win last Wednesday.
“I’m just saying that an organization based on respect and fair play permits some players to be on the pitch tomorrow even though it’s been shown that they don’t respect these values,” the former Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao defender said. “They have used racist insults covering their mouths so that nobody could see it. Two of our players (Sergio Ramos and Pepe) who didn’t do any of that are not playing.”
On the other side, Barcelona’s playmaker Xavi dismissed the reports of bigotry, applauding UEFA’s decision to reject claims said by Real Madrid officials.
“It’s pitiful. Barcelona have shown respect for their rivals in all their games, an example-setting behavior and for me all what is happening is pitiful,” the 31-year-old said.”All those reports don’t take us anywhere. UEFA have logically and evidently rejected these reports. We try to talk about football and not those details, which are pitiful.”
Karim Benzema who scored 23 goals this season for Real might have a key role in his side try to come back from 2-0 deficit. Benzema said that he and his teammates were all aware of what they need to overcome in order to find their place in the Champions League finals.
“Tomorrow we have 90 minutes to come back. But it is not only about coming back, it is about winning,” the former Lyon goal machine said. “People are aware it is going to be difficult but we are going to do the best we can in order to play a good match.”
