Barcelona sealed their third consecutive Spanish Supercup success 10th in club history. After the match which ended with some ugly scenes, Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola was frustrated by his colleague Jose Mourinho’s behaviour.

Following a dangerous foul from Marcelo on Barcelona’s newest signing from Arsenal, Cesc Fabregas, Brazilian got the red card that resulted in a toucgline brawl between the coaching staff and players of both clubs. During the rumble, Mourinho tugged the ear of Guardiola’s assistant Tito Vilanova, before puckering his lips at the coach in aftermath.

The whole incident Guardiola commented: “The images speak for themselves. There are things that should not happen in football (and this is one). This could end badly if unchecked. I can do something with my players, and make sure that they behave their best, but I do not give lessons to anyone.” .

Barcelona’s midfielder Xavi Hernandez described Real’s tactics as ‘pathetic’ and shameful for football, while Pique accused Mourinho of destroying Spanish football: “I hope the brawl isn’t what is talked about – it’s a shame. It’s not the first time it has happened and it’s always the same players. Someone has to take action here – Mourinho is destroying Spanish football. They talk a lot about the Catalans, but the problem is in Madrid.”.

According to these two matches, El Clasico odds will be more interesting than ever this season.

Barcelona took the victory in Spanish Supercup 5-4 in aggregate, after exciting 3-2 second leg win at Camp Nou.

These two matches were perfect introduction into the new season in La Liga which is expected to be the fullfilled with exciting rivalry between the two best team in Spain.

After thrilling first-leg and 2-2 equalizer at Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, drama continued at Camp Nou. Goals from Andres Iniesta nad Lionel Messi gave Barcelona 2-1 advantage over Real Madrid. Only goal in a first part of the match scored Cristiano Ronaldo. Karim Benzema delivered an equalizer and Messi once again placed a decider in Real Madrid’s net and secured his team’s third consecutive Spanish Supercup trophy. Marcelo earned red card which invoked ugly scenes on the field involving players and coaches of both club.

In the opening minutes, Ronaldo put Valdes to a test, but the goalkeeper responded well to a challenge. Barcelona fought back with Messi’s perfect pass that brought Iniesta through on goal. Spanish international showed class with nonchalantly scooping the ball over Casillas for Barca’s lead. Only six minutes later Ronaldo put deflected ball in Valdes’ goal from a short range. Both teams exchanged chances, but Messi, just as he did on Sunday, gave his team a half-time lead by flicking the ball into the Casillas’ far corner after chase with Ronaldo.

In the second half Mourinho’s team was able to draw level on 80 minutes after Benzema delivered an equalizer by staying poised amid the scramble around the Valdes’ goal just enough to put the ball behind the powerless goalkeeper.

Extra time was close when substitute Fabregas was introduced as the latest acquisition from Arsenal, just to be involved in building up the attack that Messi turned into the goal with a sublime volley after Adriano’s cross and seal the Barcelona’s third consecutive Spanish Supercup victory.

The match went into chaos when Madrid’s Marcelona wrapped his legs around Fabregas, prompting all people from both benches into the rumble as the officials struggled to regain control. Marcelo, Ozil and David Vill all received red cards for their involvement in melee.

In the last El Clasico of the season thanks to 1-1 draw and 3-1 aggregate, Barcelona booked their place in Champions League final at Wembley Stadium.

As it was foreseen, Barcelona completed their task and successfully eliminated their greatest rivals Real Madrid from the Champions League. All Champions League odds were in Barcelona’s favor which could be the same in the finals against Manchester United or Schalke 04 which will be known after their duel at Old Trafford tonight.

Barcelona started the match playing their own style, fast, simple, aggressive on the ball and with the way much more possession than Real Madrid. They had plenty of chances in the first half, but failed to score. Iniesta, Messi, Busquets, Dani Alves, David Villa, they all had chances to score, but mostly thanks to Casillas, Real struggled and survived in a goalless game at the half time. In the first half Real Madrid side simply couldn’t take a shot on a goal of Victor Valdes, while Barca’s whole team played with a lot of wonderful passes and 2/3 of ball possesion in their favour.

In the second half excitement and suspense was growing. Real started to play much better and finally showed that they can be a match up to their rivals. Higuain took the sudden chance and used it, but Real Madrid’s celebration was cut short because the refree’s whistle. Javier Mascerano was touched by Ronaldo and the Argentinian fell down and a free kick was given. Soon after that, Barcelona took the lead. Iniesta composed a fantastic pass for Pedro who scored after a long time. Ozil and Adebayor were brought into the game to try to achieve impossible, to give Barcelona three goals in the remaining 35-40 minutes. Madrid scored after Di Maria took the ball past Mascerano and took the shot which went off the post before Marcelo who gave his time a lifeline. Until the end of the match Real couldn’t find the second goal that would give an exciting finish to the final El Clasico of the season. There was a late appearance for Eric Abidal, who was greeted with rapturous applause from everyone in the stadium after returning from an operation to remove a cancerous tumor.

Later tonight will be known who will play against Barcelona in Champions League finals that will be staged at Wembley Stadium in London on May 28th. The best Champions League odds on who is closer to win the semi’s and the competition overall you can find at footbetting.co.uk

The last few games between Tuesday night rivals were filled with controversy on both sides. Latest statement of this kind came from Real Madrid’s Aitor Karanka who accused Barca’s midfielder Sergio Busquets being racist. He spoke in place of the head coach Jose Mourinho who refused to talk to the press ahead of the second-leg match at Camp Nou.

Karanka and Mourinho believe Barcelona should dismiss Busquets from the last El Clasico of the season after he was accused of calling Marcelo a ‘monkey’ behind his hand in Catalan’s club 2-0 first-leg win last Wednesday.

“I’m just saying that an organization based on respect and fair play permits some players to be on the pitch tomorrow even though it’s been shown that they don’t respect these values,” the former Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao defender said. “They have used racist insults covering their mouths so that nobody could see it. Two of our players (Sergio Ramos and Pepe) who didn’t do any of that are not playing.”

On the other side, Barcelona’s playmaker Xavi dismissed the reports of bigotry, applauding UEFA’s decision to reject claims said by Real Madrid officials.

“It’s pitiful. Barcelona have shown respect for their rivals in all their games, an example-setting behavior and for me all what is happening is pitiful,” the 31-year-old said.”All those reports don’t take us anywhere. UEFA have logically and evidently rejected these reports. We try to talk about football and not those details, which are pitiful.”

Karim Benzema who scored 23 goals this season for Real might have a key role in his side try to come back from 2-0 deficit. Benzema said that he and his teammates were all aware of what they need to overcome in order to find their place in the Champions League finals.

“Tomorrow we have 90 minutes to come back. But it is not only about coming back, it is about winning,” the former Lyon goal machine said. “People are aware it is going to be difficult but we are going to do the best we can in order to play a good match.”

Atmosphere in the eye of the last El Clasico of the season is getting hot and tense as the kick off is closing. Both teams, Barcelona and Real Madrid are having the best odds to win the Champions League.

Barcelona’s midfielder Xavi insists his team will continue to force their attacking style of play against Real Madrid on Tuesday night. The Catalans are heading for the semi-final second-leg clash against their greatest rivals with 2-0 lead courtesy which they gained thanks to inspirational Lionel Messi. Xavi pointed out that as far as his side is concerned, the best form of defence is the attack.

“They will need to go out and look for the game more. They’ve lived on a counter-attacking game and been ultra defensive, but we have to be prepared for them to play higher up the pitch tomorrow. Whatever happens though, Barca will stay true to their own way of playing. Our game won’t change at all,” said the Spanish playmaker.
“We always attack and never try and sit back and defend a lead – we don’t know any other way to play and our fans would never let us.”

Xavi also said how he was disappointed about the furore surrounding from the first-leg meeting between two sides, which resulted Real’s Pepe being sent off and Mourinho sent to the stands for his protests. Barcelona’s substitute goalkeeper Jose Pinto was also shown red for his involment in half-time argue, but Xavi insists these things are behind and his and teammates sights are set on Tuesday’s match.

“I’m not one to judge the behavior of the Real Madrid manager,” Xavi said. “We try to talk about football, and it feels as if it isn’t talked about much. There is a bit about Madrid’s strategy and Barcelona’s strategy, but we focus on things that don’t have any importance in football. It makes me a little sad to talk about things that are outside of the game of football that we love so much. We try to do our best on the pitch and respect our opponents, and then play our game. Madrid have their weapons and their manager, who is a controversial figure – not just now, but always. We try to stay away from this. We would prefer that we all talk a bit more about football and not outside factors that reflect badly on the sport.”

The final El Clasico installment of the season wraps up in the Champions League semi finals second-leg at the Camp Nou, the home of Barcelona on Tuesday night. Home side has a 2-0 lead from the first-leg at Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid and they are a strong favourites to win and find themselves in the Champions League finals that will be staged at Wembley Stadium in London on May 28th. The best Champions League odds on who is closer to win the semi’s and the competition overall you can fin at footbetting.co.uk

In defensive line Barcelona’s coach Pep Guardiola will face problems on the left-back spot. Adriano and Abidal are still unavailable, Maxwell is struggling to get back into the team, so Carlos Puyol may be once again forced into the role. Following Javier Mascherano’s clumsy concessions on the last few matches, Sergio Busquets may be better solution in the heart of the Barca’s defence as Gabriel Milito is out for the rest of the campaign.

As for the midfield, Andres Iniesta could return to the squad if he’s fit enough, but if he is not, Seydou Keita will start El Clasico. Attacking line shouldn’t face any changes.

Expected line-up for Barcelona in 4-3-3 formation is: Valdes; Dani Alves, Pique, Busquets, Puyol; Xavi, Mascherano, Iniesta; Pedro, Messi, Villa.

If want to make through to the finals, Mourinho’s team will have to attack. Their tactics from the first-leg match do not apply here. Therefore, Adebayor should be deployed in the attack where with his physical attributes should unsettle home defence. Mesut Ozil should have more attacking role than in previous match. Pepe and Sergio Ramos are both banned so this could be a potential problem for the defensive line, while Jose Mourinho will be forced to watch the game from the stand following his dismissal last week. Sami Khedira and Fernando Gago are injured, but in the midfield they should have competent substitutes.

Real Madrid is expected to start in 4-2-3-1 formation with the line-up: Casillas; Arbeloa, Carvalho, Albiol, Marcelo; Alonso, Diarra; Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo; Adebayor

Interesting facts:
- – Lionel Messi, if score can equalize Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s 12 goals record in a single Champions League season.
- – Real Madrid is the worst disciplined team in Champions League with three reds and 27 yellow cards.

Both teams have lost their La Liga matches last weekend, so it is obvious they took all their attention to this match. Barcelona didn’t lose at home in all competitions since last September, and last time they played against Real Madrid at the Camp Nou, they gave them a crushing 5-0 defeat.

On footbetting.co.uk you can find the best Champions League tips. Our tip for this El Clasico would be to place a bet on Barcelona with Messi to score, and in other semi’s bet on Manchester United because Schalke 04 odds are not so good.

Ronaldo retires!

Posted by: | Comments (0)

One of the best Brazilian players ever, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, has confirmed that he is retiring from football.

His decision to retire ends one of the most prestigious football careers in the world. Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane were the only two men to have won the FIFA Player of the Year award three times. He was a part of the Brazil’s World Cup wins in both 1994 and 2002.

When he was just 21-years-old, he won his first Ballon d’Or as the European Footballer of the Year in 1997, and again in 2002. In his remarkable career, he scored over 350 club goals and he played 97 times for the Brazil national team.

“I can’t take any more,” Ronaldo said to the press.
“I wanted to continue, but I can’t do it anymore. I think of an action, but I can’t do it the way I want to. It’s time. It’s the body that’s hurting me. The head wants to go on, but the body can’t take any more.”

Ronaldo was named as one of the best starting eleven of all-time by France Football in 2007. Brazilian legend Pele named him into the list of one hundred greatest footballers ever, FIFA 100.

In 161. El Clasico Barcelona humiliated Mourinho’s Real Madrid with five goals in Casillas net and showed who is the boss in Spain.

In front of 98,000 spectators at Camp Nou Barcelona destroyed Real Madrid, by result and by play. To fifth win in a row over the greatest rival Guardiola’s team came playing around with Mourinho’s precious boys. They humiliated them, brought them to their knees in an absolute all court domination. In every aspect of the game Barca was perfect tonight. Breathtaking ball control and imperious approach made Messi and friends did what they want, making all attractive moves in football that can be imagined.

Galacticos more looked like worst boxer in history that got hit brutally by champion. If Mourinho had right to throw a towel, he would probably do so, a lot before last whistle by the referee. But, since this is football, he had to watch probably the biggest disgrace in his coaching carrier. He had the best start of the season by coach in Madrid’s history, and he probably expected to lose some day, but not like this.

Barcelona took only eight minutes to score two goals. First Xavi scored in 10th minute and then Pedro in the 18th. At the beginning of the second half, Messi assisted two times to David Villa for 4:0 in Barca favor. True eruption of emotions of Barca fans made last minute goal by Jeffren. In injury time Sergio Ramos lost his nerves and savagely kicked Messi and got the red card.

Barcelona inflicted first defeat in the 2010/11 season to Real Madrid and got to the top of the table. To the team which took only six goals in last twelve matches they scored five in one match. They also made to save their own goal for the fourth time in last five matches. Barca made their 63th win in clashes against Real Madrid (lost 68 matches, played drawn 30 times).

The match was anticipated as “The Clash of the Titans” as duel Guardiola vs Mourinho, Messi vs Ronaldo but… We have seen only one Titan, and coaching duel… well, let’s just say that Mourinho side 5:0 crushing defeat represents the worst league defeat in his coaching career. Messi didn’t score this time, but made some great assists, while Ronaldo took two solid free kicks and a yellow card. In 31st minute, Ronaldo came to Barca coach Guardiola to take the ball from him, but Guardiola thrown it away, so Ronaldo pushed him and there was rumble with all players from both team participating in it. Outcome was two yellow cards, one to Ronaldo and one to Valdez. Leo Messi may have failed to score for the first time in 10 games but his performance, with those of Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez and Sergio Busquets, was nonetheless sublime. This match will probably be remembered as one of the best in the last 10 years. Barcelona demonstrated all magic and beauty of the modern football and Real did nothing.

Here you can see match facts.
Barcelona vs Real Madrid 5:0 (2:0)
Scorers: Xavi 10’, Pedro 18’, Villa 55’, 58’, Jeffren 90’+1’
LINEUPS:
Barcelona: Valdes, Puyol, Abidal, Dani Alves, Pique, Iniesta, Xavi (Jeffren 87’), Busquets, Messi, Villa (Bojan 76’), Pedro (Keita 87’)
Real Madrid: Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Ricardo Carvalho, Pepe, Marcelo (Arbeloa 60’), Xabi Alonso, Ozil (Diarra 46’), Khedira, Di Maria, Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema

Next El Clasico, Barcelona v Real Madrid, is one of the greatest in years for many reasons. First of all it is a bookmakers delight. Odds for winning this year title in La Liga had never been more equal. Both teams are having many arguments to hope for the best outcome at the end of the season therefore there are many interesting football betting options to come in Spanish La Liga and pretty much attractive football on television.

Let’s take a closer look on a couple of basic facts and try to come up with some odds and tips for betting on possible outcome of next El Clasico on Camp Nou on next Monday. We shall also point out the possible: scorers, number of goals, half and full time result also as tip for who will win the title at the end of the season.

This duel will not only be the clash of the Spanish sport titans. It will be the duel of two great coaches. Jose Mourinho on Real Madrid’s side and Sep Guardiola on the other Barcelona’s side. Both of them, beside titles in domestic leagues have won the Champions League. “The Special one” made it two times, once with Porto when nobody expected it and last year with Inter Milan. He proved himself on a large scale and therefore he was brought to Madrid to make the necessary difference and bring trophies to the club. If anyone can do it, he can do it. On the other side, his younger colleague had a major breakthrough with Barcelona. He won every competition with Barca (same did Mourinho with Inter), but unlike many other coaches he did it in his first year as a coach of the first team. Mourinho is preferring more selective approach to the game, playing on the result, while Guardiola’s Barcelona as it seems always play to score more goals than the opponent.

Barca teamed up fantastic football magicians in the middle where Xavi are Iniesta true motor power to this team and with Messi and Villa they seem unstoppable. Real has fantastic Christiano Ronaldo who is the best scorer of La Liga at the moment in front of Lionel Messi who is only one goal behind. Both teams have attack so strong that all opponents are trembling when trying to defend from these two. Real and Barcelona made confident wins in last round of Spanish Championship, especially Barca who crushed Almeria 8:0, and with many confidence are expecting the Monday night football show. Galacticos made couple wins more versus Barcelona in total since El Clasico is on the run, but doesn’t mean a thing in Monday duel.

If we take the fact that both teams are in great scoring series, odds that we can expect many goals are pretty big. Betting tip in this case would be at least three to four in this match. Mourinho will probable prefer more cautious defensive approach, but with fast counter attacks with Ronaldo and Higuain it could bring the result he wants. If Barcelona creates its magic, it is possible to be even more excitement.

If we want to make bet on the result then must expect that both teams will go for a win. In that case odds for winning would be on Barcelona side with at least two goals in Casillas net. So considering last displays in La Liga and Champions league two or three to one in Barca’s favor would be my guess. I’d said that odds for a draw as the outcome is unlikely to come, mostly because win can make the difference in a clash for La Liga title and bring even more confidence for the rest of the season. If we put all to a side, Real has The Special One, but no one is invincible!

History of duels between these opponents is not important at this moment, because on Monday night from 20:00 on Camp Nou, home of Barcelona, they will be making history.
